Well, I just wrote an entire post that disappeared the second I hit "save." Isn't that how it goes.
Porter Flea is just one week away and I am torn between being giddy with excitement and thinking: "OHMYGOSHIONLYHAVEONEWEEKTOMAKEALLOFTHETHINGS." So, you know, the usual Porter Flea Scramble.
I am really excited about all of the new products I'll be offering this summer. Brand new kitchen towels, hand painted blankets, wall hangings, illustrated hand weavings as part of my collaboration with Hannah Jones, and pattern kits including a piece of my handwoven fabric paired with an original Elizabeth Suzann crop top pattern.
In addition to making all of these things for Porter Flea, I've been working on so many other projects these last couple weeks. I feel like I have my hands in all of the cooke jars and it's easy to let myself get overwhelmed with the amount of work I have looming over me. Sometimes I have to take a step back and remember to actually enjoy the work I've been doing so let me update you a bit.
I had the honor of being included in Elizabeth Suzann's collaboration with Madesmith that launched earlier this week. We designed a beautiful piece of fabric that blends a natural mushroom colored linen with bleached white cotton in a pattern similar to her ivory crop tops. The linen gives it drape and the cotton makes it unbelievably soft. This is some of my favorite fabric I've woven to date.
I also completed the first piece of fabric for my new collaboration with Rebekka Seale of Camilla Fiber Company. We used an organic cotton that we indigo dyed and it turned out even more beautiful than either of us expected. She even was able to photograph the entire process from start to finish. Rebekka will be making a small run of products with this fabric to debut at Porter Flea.
I taught an intro to weaving class at Hey Rooster a couple weekends ago that was a huge success. I was blown away by how talented creative these ladies were and since it sold out so quickly, we're offering a second class on June 24th.
Lastly, I just wanted to tell you about an email list I am starting up so I can send out a newsletter every couple of months. It'll tell you about my new products, upcoming classes, and shows I'll be participating in. I promise I won't spam you! There is a signup for it on my homepage, or you can sign up here:
I have so many exciting things in the works right now, I can't wait until I can share!
