An impromptu visit to Lowe's last month left me with several vegetable plants vying for my attention. I planted 6 jalapenos, a sweet banana pepper (my new obsession), and a cayenne in the middle of my back yard less than 6 inches apart from each other. Not so surprisingly, I didn't tend to them whatsoever and Bermuda trampled them within minutes of being planted. I thought they were goners. Little did I know, they are some seriously hardy plants! Not only are they growing nice and tall (even the one Bermuda smashed!) they are blooming and actually producing some peppers! Holy cow!
The cayennes are several inches long already.
My first little nub of a jalapeno!
