Ok, so there has been a lot going on with the holiday's and whatnot and I suck at blogging so here's what's been happening:
I'll go ahead and start with the bad news and get that out of the way. My beloved Brazilian Rainbow Boa, Sienna, passed away on Christmas eve. I looked in on her daily and she was always curled up under her log and then I checked on her and she had only eaten one of her rats so when I took that out of her cage, she was stretched out and I had a really bad feeling. I took her out of her cage and knew she was a goner. It really sucks. :( She was an awesome snake who loved me and bit guys.
Aside from that, Christmas was good. My parents were here on Wednesday and we hung out after work on Thursday before going to Aunt Jane's house for Christmas day on Saturday. I got some really cool gifts from Roger and he loved his iPod touch. We also got a great tea pot and PF Changs tea from my parents which rocks!
It was really great to see the family again on Christmas, we are doing Rogers immediate family's Christmas New Years day though because that's when Mark and Joanna can make it down. That will be tons of fun as well.
I had to work the day after Christmas from 5:45 AM to 4PM which sucked really bad. It was a mad house in there! We seriously did not have one down moment. The store was a mess and there were clothes all over the floor, it was the worst I had ever seen it. Guess what I had to come in to today when I opened? An even worse mess! They hadn't done anything last night! Argh, I ended up having the worst day ever. I wanted to walk out and quit so badly! I had to open AND close today and I get to open tomorrow and close Tuesday, WTH!?!?! I am so freaking sick of this job! I really want to focus on art and my special project!
Alright, well let me just rant about 2 more things before catching up on the best of 2009 blogging. Pet peeve #1: I HATE it when someone is in your way and you say excuse me and they just nod or say ok and DON'T MOVE!!! OMG why the hell would I be saying excuse me if I didn't freaking want you to move!! Pet Peeve #2: Short people trying on jeans and cuffing them and then leaving them cuffed for me to have to uncuff to put away. Don't even ask me why that bugs me so much but it really pisses me off. Uncuff your f-ing jeans yourself you twits!
Best of challenge...
December 21 Project. What did you start this year that you're proud of?
2 things I am SUPER proud of this year are my Fairytale Serpent Gown that I did for my independent study in surface design...
...and this movie I made of my friend Mace doing "coke" for me for a abnormal psych presentation.
December 22 Startup. What's a business that you found this year that you love? Who thought it up? What makes it special?
A business that I found this year that I really like is Imogene and Willie. It is a wonderful store in Nashville that has things I drool over but cannot afford.
December 23 Web tool. It came into your work flow this year and now you couldn't live without it. It has simplified or improved your online experience.
A work tool that I LOVE that Joanna told me about is in Photoshop and it is batch editing. When I have a ton of huge pictures I can just record what I want done and it will perform those actions to each one. Yippee!
A lesson I have learned this year that changed me... humm... toughie, I would have to say a huge one that I am still learning is how to treat others as you'd like to be treated.
December 25 Gift. What's a gift you gave yourself this year that has kept on giving?
A gift that keeps on giving would have to be my serger. I mostly got it because I needed it for school and a little bit because I just wanted one really badly, but it's been a pretty good investment.
Epiphany... getting married is a really big thing... I wasn't nervous before the wedding at all, although I didn't sleep a wink the night before. But the next night on our honeymoon, I freaked out a little bit, and got really scared that everything was going to change. So far nothing has changed that wasn't for the better and I totally LOVE being married to Roger.
December 27 Social web moment. Did you meet someone you used to only know from her blog? Did you discover Twitter?
I discovered blogging!!!
December 28 Stationery. When you touch the paper, your heart melts. The ink flows from the pen. What was your stationery find of the year?
I love my save the dates, invitations, and thank you notes for my wedding. I had help from Joanna and Mark designing the first two but illustrated and designed the thank you's all by my self. I loved all of them and think they gave my wedding a great hand-made feel, especially since I block printed and gocco-ed the save the dates and invites!
Alright, well I think I am going to just finish up the year so I don't have to worry about HAVING to blog and I only have 3 more.
December 29 Laugh. What was your biggest belly laugh of the year?
OK, this is going to sound weird but here goes: I searched everywhere in October for pumpkin in a can to make some pumpkin ice cream. Apparently they had a bad crop or something because no one had any in stock. I finally found some though and bought like 4 big cans of it. I was working on making some pumpkin muffins or something in the kitchen with Roger when I managed to dump the entire can on the floor. It went everywhere!! All over my socks and the kitchen and stove and stuff. I chuckled because it sucked since pumpkin was so hard to find. Well I went in the dishwasher to get a spatula out to scrape it up and as I was shutting the door of the dishwasher for some reason Roger stuck his hand in there to stop me or grab something or whatever. Well the door slammed up on him and caught his finger pretty hard. Roger doesn't normally swear but he sure cussed at that one! I just couldn't understand why he stuck his hand in there when I was so clearly shutting the door, the goof! I was in tears laughing and couldn't move because there was still pumpkin everywhere. I still crack up when I think about it!
The other huge time that I just about died laughing this year was late one night when Mary Ellen was over and we were doing History of Dress homework. We had to make a dumb powerpoint presentation and I think it was our last one and it was a huge one. Well like I said, it was really late and we were sorta delirious. I asked her how to spell "phenomenon" and we both ended up in tears because it sounded so much like that Menomena song... lame but I will NEVER not think of her and that night when I hear that song now.
December 30 Ad. What advertisement made you think this year?
Not think as much as laugh...
December 31 Resolution you wish you'd stuck with. (You know, there's always next year...)
