'twas fate we came to Rockbrook...

How did we come to meet pal? What caused our paths to blend? ‘Twas fate we came to Rockbrook, And you became my friend. We’ve roamed these hills together. And shared our fondest dreams The spirit fire was kindled And we learned to follow the cardinal’s gleam.

It’s here at camp We have learned to grasp The meaning of, the real worth of True friendship born to last

Oh Rockbrook, you have given What none can ‘ere destroy, Ideals to guide our lives by And friends to bring us joy. And when we say farewell It shall not mean good-bye. The spark we’ve lit at Rockbrook We know in ages n’er will die.

It’s here at camp We have learned to grasp The meaning of, the real worth of True friendship born to last

This is one of my favorite camp songs and I it describes perfectly my experience at Rockbrook this summer. I met some amazing people and made lifelong friends. We laughed together, cried together, and made some lasting memories. Last week was the last week of camp. The last banquet, the last spirit fire, the last closing day. The last trip to Dolly's the last muffins, and the last desserts were made. We said our farewell's and parted ways, knowing that it was goodbye for now, not forever.

(The last banquet theme was faries!)

("Rainbow in a cup" for dessert)

(Carolina Arctic Blast)

(Me 'n Bailey)

(Jackie and I)

(Spirit fire program and candle)

(We all gather in a circle around the lake with our candles lit singing camp songs)

Rick threw a huge staff party Friday afternoon at the lake. There was beer, good food, and swimming- it was a blast!

(it poured at first, and we all went down the slide- it was the fastest ride yet!)

(Sofie diving in!)

("Nothing is better than this! Camp life, what joy what bliss!")

(Rick sure knows how to throw a mean party!)

I'm back at home now, after 11 weeks away. Leaving camp was bittersweet but I am happy to be back home with the boy and the dogs. We've watched a TON of movies this weekend, did a TON of laundry, and ate a TON of delicious food. It's back to real life now.
