Valentine's day is the busiest day of the year for cupcakes. You can see the top view of our order book for just 2 days. On a normal Monday we'll have maybe 4 or 5 pre-orders. On Valentine's Day we already had 100 when I got there at 5AM. People were calling and trying to place orders all morning. We told them they'd have to get in line behind the other 30 orders we already had due at 9AM when we opened. There were people banging on the door by 8 trying to be let in and there was a line waiting for us to unlock the door at 9. You can see the line out the door- it was like that ALL day. Anyhow, It was pretty freaking crazy. We were all deliriously tired and laughing like crazy all day. We sold 4.600 cupcakes just on Monday which added up to $11,000 (a record for our store!)
Between Sunday and Monday I clocked 24 hours of work so you can imagine that I had NO energy to actually celebrate Valentine's day by the time I got home. So, Roger and I decided to wait a couple of days so I could recover before going out for a nice date. Last night he took me to Bridge Street and we got a fancy steak dinner at Connor's with creme brulee and cafe amaretto for dessert. Afterwards we went to see The Green Hornet. It was a lot of fun to get all dressed up and go out on a fancy date. He even got me an adorable octopus card and a pink rose. He's such a sweetie :)
I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's day, or at least a more relaxing one than I did!
