While my looms may be packed up and TN Textile Mill officially closed, Shutters & Shuttles is making a comeback! Username is changed back and my website is back up with OUR Yarn fully stocked. While I take the next little while to figure out my next steps, I'm throwing back to some of my favorite pieces! This is an 8-harness wool/cotton throw rug circa 2014.
Today is my last "official" day weaving at the mill and it still doesn't entirely feel real. I finally got a chance to read through all of your sweet comments and notes of encouragement- I might have shed a few tears on the fabric, it's a good thing cotton is absorbent. Closing the mill wasn't an easy choice to make, but it was the option that made the most sense for both myself and my business partner. I don't know exactly what is next for me. I plan to continue weaving in some capacity but need a little downtime to regroup. I truly am blown away by the outpouring of support you all have shown, and I hope you'll continue to follow me on my weaving journey, wherever that may lead! (Another beautiful photo by @kelandmel_ )
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that TN Textile Mill will be going out of business at the end of January. We can’t thank you enough for the support you’ve given us, and although we are sad to be closing our doors, we remain excited and thankful to have played a small role in domestic textile production. We hope you’ll keep paying attention to sustainable manufacturing practices and continue to support small businesses.
